What is/are the Environmental Humanities?

The Environmental Humanities is a relatively new but rapidly expanding, interdisciplinary field of academic enquiry that draws on the multiple environmental sub-disciplines which have emerged in the past years in the humanities, including environmental philosophy, political science, eco-criticism, environmental history and environmental anthropology – among other disciplines. In bridging traditional divides between the sciences and the humanities, the Environmental Humanities complements environmental science and public policy by focusing on the cultural, historical, and ethical dimensions of environmental issues.
